A 29-year-old man, yesterday this week was sentenced to life imprisonment for murdering a police station sergeant.
They therefore retrieved the interview notes from the custody of the station sergeant, rewrote the page containing this claim and placed the notes back with the custody officer.
A further two sergeants act as station sergeants.
In 1991 the station sergeant retired and no replacement was appointed.
